About Julie |
Julie Williams - Textile Artist
Born in Guildford Surrey in 1975 Julie now lives in Whitehill, Hampshire with partner Richard, daughter Elizabeth, and Richard's son Matthew
She returned to college in 2003 after searching for a course to take her skills further:
"I had always sewn and really enjoyed designing and making things but I felt I wanted to take my skills to a new level. I was a little nervous of returning to college having been told at school and sixth form that I couldn't draw. However, I worked with a lady called Yvette Swann who had just finished her Diploma at Windsor, she sent me
along to their exhibition and I was so excited by what the students were doing there that I signed up for C&G part 1 then and there!"
Having finished C&G part 2 (now called NVQ level 3 Diploma) in creative embroidery at the end of June 2007,
She recently won the wearable Art Section at the
National Quilt Championships 2008 with her 'Tropical
Gloves' and now again in 2009 with her 'Peacock
Evening Jacket'.
