Peacock Evening Jacket
This
unusual jacket was based on the beautiful mating
displays of the male peacocks at Hollycombe seen in
late April and May. The high collar signifies the
peacocks tail when it is displaying to the females
(or cars, trucks, people)
The
godet at the back is designed to suggest the long
tail trailing behind the bird as he moves elegantly
around and the main body of the jacket depicts the
individual feathers falling out when the tail is no
longer needed to impress.
Worked
in metallic and rayon threads on a sheer ground.

Experimental Felt Samples
Both these samples were based on the same
source, The samples were made from two pieces of
felt, each pre-felt was laid on top of the
other, The blocks cut out and replaced with the
alternative piece. The pieces were then felted
in to make two complete pieces of felt.
The first sample
has hand stitching using natural threads applied
at the pre-felt stage these more or less merge
in to the felt, The second has machine
embroidery added at the felted stage.
